Portable Chicken Coops
Portable chicken coops are an ideal solution for when you are farming just a couple of chickens or maybe have a smaller back-yard.

There are a couple of things to consider when looking at plans for portable chicken coops.
Easy does it!
How easy is it going to be to shift? No, really. You will have to move it at least every 2 days so if it you are straining your muscles, it takes 5 of you to do it then you might as well build a permanent structure. It shouldn’t take a tractor to move a tractor – ha!
How do you roll?
A fabulous idea is to put wheels on your portable chicken coop. Just make sure that they are stable, secure, tough and replaceable!
Push or pull?
Most plans require you to push the coop around. This is fine in some instances, but it may be worthwhile looking at plans that allow you to pull the coop along as well.
Size does matter;
No kidding right? Seriously, if you are building a portable chicken coop larger than around 3 feet x 8 feet think about whether you can build your portable chicken coop so that the house easily separates from the run. This’ll let you move it in two pieces.
Oh poop!
Hens produce way more poop than you think, that is one of the reasons why it is really important to move them often. You will need to work out how to collect the poop and move the coop without getting yourself covered!
